Excellent Footage of Nightime in Los Angeles
A wonderful treasure of film detailing the nighttime streets and people in downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles in 1946 was still a distination for eating and for movies. It had a population base in Bunker Hill and adjoining areas for shopping, especially in the daytime.

Hooray for Hollywood Thanks Harry (Cohn) Thanks BRUTE LAMP
WOW ALL THIS STUFF WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST IF IT HAD'NT BEE FOR EFFECTS CREW OUT ON ASSIGNMENT
FOR SOME PRODUCTION. LIKED THE BUZZ BY THE THEN
HOT COLUMBIA PIC Gilda. Starring Glenn Ford ,
Rita Hayworth and The Great George MacReady.
The very bright Brute Arc lamp made it possible
to see all the street action and thanks to the
Eastman Kodak for manufacturing the DOUBLE X
black & white negative film (high speed at the time) Thanks to the MITCHELL co of Glendale
for maufacturing the BNC camera which about 80%
of the golden age stuff was photographed by. Thanks to highly skilled cameraman and his assistants. The Mitchell company is now defunct
and it looks like Eastman KODAK will soon no longer produce 35mm film. Thanks for the memories

Beth Short's last walk
This is amazing stuff, a virtual encyclopedia of lost downtown Los Angeles commerce and culture. It's also something of a crime scene.
A little context, from the 1947project:
00:00 Process plate, night, moving, from automobile, 3/4 reverse angle, nighttime streets of downtown Los Angeles. Stores, theaters and marquees, pedestrians on sidewalk, traffic.
02:29 Similar shot in reverse direction
04:25 Similar shot, moving forward
08:52 Process plate, night, moving, from automobile or train, 3/4 reverse angle, shot from railroad tracks in industrial area (northwest of downtown Los Angeles). Lighted foreground. Train passes Burbank station.
